What is Hatha Yoga?

The word Yoga means to connect or unify. Hatha translates from Sanskri as ha (sun) and tha (moon) relating to the balance of opposites. Yoga unites opposites: mind and body, stillness and movement, masculine and feminine. Hatha yoga is the physical side of the ancient Indian practice of yoga. Progressive techniques of pranayama, (breath control) asanas, (postures) and movement, cleanse, stretch and strengthen the body while calming and stilling the mind. A deeper experience of the self becomes possible through consistent practice. Once you begin, you will be able to recognise the benefits yoga brings to all areas of your life.
